Message Hey all...

If you look at my previous few posts in this forum, you would see that for about a year I have been chasing primarily an idle issue( hunting around, up and down, etc), and secondarily an overall shitty running issue with my car.

The motor has been out and back in 3 times during this period, torn down, checked over, retightened etc.

I replaced everything on the motor. Every sensor, (including cas and maf), the IACV, the AAV, all the hoses. I reset the timing belt 3 times. You get the idea.

I have talked to everyone about it. Anyone who works on Z's, had ever worked on a Z, or who knew anyone who had ever worked on a Z. Anyone who would give me ten minutes to ask got ten minutes worth of questions.

Ash hadn't done much tuning with Deatschwerks, but he had said early on that the ones he had done were pretty difficult to get right because of the differences between them and Nismos, and the differences within a set of injectors themselves. But I thought, nahh, can't be the injectors, their "new."

Well, I was talking to Greg from specialty Z yesterday, and we had run over the typical stuff, and he asks:"What kind of injectors are they?" Of course I told him what they were (deatschwerks), and he immediately said:"There's your problem."

He said that he has never been able to create a tune for a car with deatschwerks 740cc injectors that worked without having the car in His shop, and even then they tend to run rough and perform inconsistently.

He said that the mahority of those that he has tried create a "standard" (sending out a chip) tune will run lean at idle, and up through the midrange, and flow right on top. Well, two nights ago, I had recorded about 15 minutes of driving on Datascan, and guess what? Lean at idle, adding about 22-24% off of the fuel base up to about 3500 RPM, perfect under wot.

DING! DING! DING! We have a winner. He pretty much desribed exactly what it was doing. So, I bought some Nismo's from Him, (he gave me a great deal by the way) which I should have in by saturday.

I guess the moral of this story is don't spend $2000.00 and a couple hundred hours curing a $750.00, and three hour problem. Get the good stuff the first time, it always saves money in the long run.

Eric
